For the Chic Cook // Oven Baked Crispy Lemon-pepper Chicken Wings

by - 8:51 PM

Like a true Memphian, I heart me some wings. However, I also heart my health, so consuming fried wings on a regular is just not happening.
I make these wings, in some form, at least once a week. This recipe is soo easy to manipulate from barbecue, spicy, seasoned, I have done it all. This time I decided a little lemon pepper action was in order.

Step 1 //

You can cut these babies if you like, but I like to keep them whole. Naked little things for now. You are about to get acquainted with all types of delicious seasoning.

Step 2 //

Season your wings to your liking. I like to use the above seasonings regardless of the type of wings I am making. The only thing I substitute is the lemon pepper for another seasoning. Once seasoned I like to put them in the fridge covered in saran wrap for at least 30 minutes, which I did this time. If I had the time, I like to season them the night before, that way all those yummy flavors get the chance settle into the wings.

Step 3 //

Seasoned up and all ready to go into the oven. In the absence of a baking rack, use non-stick aluminum foil. Grilling foil will also work. Pre-heat the oven to about 410 degrees. Put your wings in oven for about 15 minutes then flip them over. You want to ensure that both sides are evenly cooked. This also allows for the skin to get nice and crispy. I do this once more than turn the oven down to about 375 as you don't want to burn them. Also give them one last flip about another 15 minutes in.

Step 4 //

I sort of got side tracked with this batch and tips burned got a little bit more crispy than I intended. However they still came out great! Delicious and the meat literally falls off the bone. I like to sprinkle some chives or green onions on top for an added flavor value. Now that' some good eating.

Recipe   Cook time-45 mins

What you need

  • 1 pack of chicken wings
  • 1/4 teaspoon organic black ground pepper
  • 3/4 table spoon of garlic powder
  • 3/4 table spoon of onion powder
  • 1 table spoon of poultry seasoning
  • 1/4 sea salt
  • 3 table spoons of lemon pepper seasoning

Make it

  •  Season wings with  salt, pepper, poultry seasoning, onion powder, garlic powder & lemon pepper in that order. Put in the fridge covered in saran wrap for at least 30 minutes. For good marination leaven in fridge over night.
  •  Pre-heat the oven to about 410 degrees. Place wings n a grilling rack placed on top of a foiled tray or in my case a back plan covered in non-stick aluminum foil.
  • Put your wings in oven for about 15 minutes then flip them over. Do this once more than turn the oven down to about 375 as you don't want to burn them. Continue to flip every 15 minutes until wings are to your liking.
  • Take out, plate, sprinkle some green onions on top, & your down.
